SoundDeal is an information and transparency tool, built by artists, for artists.
Here's how we treat your contracts, your data, and your privacy.
SoundDeal is operated by Songs About Sound, LLC, 5777 W Century Blvd, Ste 1600, Los Angeles, CA 90045. The commitments on this page are the plain-English version of our Privacy Policy, which is the binding one.
We don't keep what we don't need.
When you upload a contract, we extract and analyze it, then delete the original PDF or document as soon as the analysis completes. We retain only the analysis output (your scores, red flags, redlines, deal terms) so you can revisit your results in your account. If an analysis fails partway through, the file can sit in storage until an automated sweep clears it, within 24 hours — but your raw contract document is not kept as a matter of course.
Our industry benchmark dataset includes deal terms (advances, points, royalty rates, term lengths) from contracts whose owners chose to contribute. The choice is yours — there's a consent box on every analysis. Without your opt-in, your terms are not added to benchmarks. The benchmark dataset is stripped of party names, signatures, and identifying contract text before any aggregation.
If you change your mind about benchmark contribution, contact support@sounddeal.com and we'll exclude your data from future benchmark calculations. See our Terms Section 7A for full details.

SoundDeal is an educational and informational tool. The analysis, scores, red flags, benchmarks, and suggestions generated by our service are not a substitute for the advice of a qualified attorney. No attorney-client relationship is created by your use of our service. Always consult a licensed attorney familiar with your specific situation before making legal or business decisions.
Our analysis is generated by large language models trained on contract text. Like any AI system, our models can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated output. We continuously test and improve accuracy, but we don't guarantee that any specific analysis is correct, complete, or current. Your analysis is a starting point — not a final answer.
Our industry benchmarks reflect aggregate ranges from real deals. They do not account for your specific negotiating position, relationship history, career stage, territory, or other factors a qualified attorney would consider. Benchmarks inform conversations; they don't decide them.
Your analysis is stored in your account so you can return to it, and only you can read it. What leaves your account is the benchmark dataset — and only if you opt in, stripped of party names, signatures, and contract text. Lawful basis for each kind of processing, and the rights you have over it, are documented in our Privacy Policy.
All uploads and stored analysis data are encrypted. Every credential we hold — passwords, API keys, connector tokens — is stored as a one-way hash. The full list of infrastructure providers that handle data on our behalf is in the Privacy Policy.
Data Processing Agreements are available for enterprise customers and pilot partners on request. Contact admin@sounddeal.com.
We don't currently hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification. We're growing our compliance posture as we scale, and we'll update this page transparently as that changes.
